MAKING TIME FOR YOURSELF & YOUR HEALTH WHEN YOU’RE WORKING FROM HOME
At each and every corporate fitness facility we manage, Xtend Fitness is committed to keeping patrons and staff safe. We want gym-goers to know it’s safe to visit our facilities because we have taken all of the steps to make sure of it!
We follow a rigorous cleaning and disinfecting checklist, along with local guidelines and laws regarding COVID-19.
After all, we know how essential a regular gym routine is for so many people! That’s why we’re determined to provide you with safe places to get the exercise and activity you need.
To learn more about our specific cleaning protocols, take a look at this post.
Depending on exactly where you live and certain other circumstances, you might be primarily confined to your home, and tasked with balancing your work-life, fitness-life, and daily-life all at the same place.
That’s why today we’re sharing some of our favorite tips for working AND exercising at home!
XTEND FITNESS VIDEOS
We know how hard it can be to get motivated on your own. But here’s some good news: our team has created a variety of FREE workout videos you can do from home!
Choose from kettlebell workouts, slider workouts, resistance band workouts, and plenty of other fun and effective routines to keep you active.
DEFINING YOUR SPACE
When you’re spending 24/7 in your home, it’s even more important to divide your space to achieve a better work-life balance. Even in a small space, take steps to divide your work, workout, and living space however you can.
The goal here is to create designated areas that are dedicated to your life needs. Even if that means you only have a space big enough for a gym mat, you’ll know that spot is dedicated to fitness!
It’s especially important to divide your work area from your basic living areas. If you’re constantly sitting at your desk (AKA: your couch!), you’ll feel like you are always at work, even once you are off the clock.
Unfortunately, this also means more people are spending 10 or 12 hours a day sitting in the exact same spot. That brings us to our next point!
REGULAR MOVEMENT
You might not be able to fit in an intense, hour-long workout every day – and that’s okay! But finding a way to get some movement in each day will go a long way for your mental and physical health.
Here are a few ideas to start moving more each day:
- Every hour, on the hour, get up and perform 20 jumping jacks, or do one lap around your home
- Go for a 20-minute walk after you eat lunch or first-thing in the morning
- Pick one task to perform at your house each day that not only improves your space but keeps you moving
- Foster a pet for a great reason to get out for daily walks
Many of the clients that come to our fitness facilities have returned, and we invite you to do the same when you’re comfortable! Rest assured, we have taken every possible measure to keep you safe and we will continue to do so. If you have any questions about our policies or procedures, please reach out.
