How to Encourage Employee Wellness

[vc_row enable_grid_lines=””][vc_column][vc_column_text]You believe in the benefits of offering a comprehensive health and fitness program to your employees. You know that a healthy workforce is a productive workforce, and you also care for your employees. You want them to be the best they can be not only at work but in their everyday lives. Hopefully, you have entrusted your corporate wellness management to the experts at Xtend Fitness & Wellness and feel confident in our ability to deliver. Now, there is one more group to convince. The very group you developed your corporate wellness plan for; your employees. How can you encourage your employees to take advantage of the wellness services that Xtend provides?

Motivate by Example

Perhaps the single most encouraging step you can take is to utilize the services yourself. Talk informally to your staff about how much you enjoy using the exercise facility. Join a group workout class and get to know the other members of the class. If your employees see you taking part, they will follow. Great leaders encourage others to follow their example.

Provide Healthy Snacks

It’s easy to talk about health and wellness, but if the company vending machines and break rooms are full of sugary processed foods, all of your hard work may be for nothing. Change the atmosphere surrounding food by offering healthy snacks. Make sure fruit is on hand where it is quick and easy for employees to grab. Position water coolers in areas where employees frequent and be sure to model healthy eating habits yourself. It is easy to order pizza or fast food for working lunches. Consider catering healthier meal choices instead.

Encourage Activity

So many workers spend the majority of their days behind a desk. Sitting for long periods of time has been shown to lead to health issues such as an increased risk of heart attack and stroke. Encourage your employees to take breaks throughout the day, even if it’s just a walk down the corridor or a stroll at lunchtime. Consider installing standing desks and suggest that employees take their lunches away from their desks. A company softball team is not only a good way to get your workforce moving, but it also can create a tighter bond among your workers. Sponsor a company 5k and offer prizes to the participants. The more you promote movement, the better your employees will feel, and they will be more willing to engage in your corporate wellness services.
